It has been a wonderful honor and privilege to serve as the senior class president for the academic year 2014-2015. While the traditional word “senior” is no longer as clear as it was in the past, I congratulate the class of 2015 for all of the achievements you have made during your time here at the University of Utah.

I would like to share what the class of 2015 will be leaving behind as a legacy here on our campus. With the help of the student representatives in ASUU, $30,000 has been secured as a donation toward the renovation of Parlor C in the Union Building. The room will become a permanent sanctuary space where members of our campus community can meditate and find peace away from the stresses of life. The gift will provide a safe space for all students to be mindful of their mental wellness. This gift, from the senior class, allows us to give to future generations and at the same time is a way to say thank you to the place that has shaped our lives and given us experiences and connections that we will carry with us forever.

To commemorate the hard work of the class of 2015—the sleepless nights, the cramming, the endless amount of coffee and tears—I invite all of my fellow graduating seniors to attend the commencement ceremony on May 7, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center, where we will be joined by our families, friends and U alum and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert A. McDonald. I hope to see you there!

I am incredibly grateful and excited to be part of this amazing group of graduating students of the University of Utah. With all the adventures that we will embark upon in the future, may we, the class of 2015, remember what we have learned at the U and continue to grow.
