The Grand Kerfuffle, ASUU’s largest concert of the year, is fast approaching and will be a two-day event this year. It will be held Friday, April 22, 6-10:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 23, 4-10:30 p.m. Lyzne Schoenburnn, chair of concerts for ASUU, spoke with us about the event.
Q: What artists will be preforming?
A: The Friday openers will be Wavves and GoldFord, and the headliner is Icona Pop. The Saturday co-headliners will be Earl Sweatshirt and ILoveMakonnen. Many other talented artists will also be a part of this year’s lineup. For a full list of artists, visit ASUU’s Facebook page, or follow them on Twitter (@asuuevents) and Instagram (@asuuevents).
Q: How were these artists selected?
A: These artists were selected based on student feedback, price and availability. The ASUU concerts board worked very hard to take into account all the student feedback we received from the survey taken this past fall. The feedback gave us a lot of insight into the genres students would like to see on our campus. Getting this feedback helped us tailor our list of artists to genres.
Q: Where can tickets be purchased?
A: Student tickets are on sale now at the Union front desk. Student tickets are $5 for one day or $7 for both days. General admission tickets can be purchased at SmithsTix locations or online at the following: April 22 and April 23.
Tickets for faculty, staff and the general public are $20 for one day and $30 for both.
Q: When will doors open?
A: Doors will open at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 22, and at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. On both days, the concert will end at 10:30 p.m. Students will want to get there as soon as doors open so they have time to participate in the vendor fair and all of our fun festivities.
Q: How are vendors selected for the vendor fair?
A: Tables are always free for student groups and are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Other vendors are selected based on what they can offer to students. Vendors that students can look forward to seeing this year include a booth for henna tattoos, airbrush tattoos, caricatures and more.
