Your voice matters. Your vote matters. For those who prefer to vote in person on Election Day, the University of Utah will have an on-campus polling location. Here’s what you need to know.

1. Voting site for the 2020 general election has moved to the Huntsman Center

1. • To increase safety measures and provide adequate room for voters to physically distance, the polling location this year will be at the Huntsman Center (south side entrance).
   • All residents who are eligible to vote in Salt Lake County can vote at this location.
   • Polls are open on Tuesday, Nov. 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
   • If you don’t plan to come to campus to vote, please find your nearest voting location here.
   • For those driving, please park in the parking structure to the south of the Huntsman Center.

2. Plan on following health and safety guidelines

1. • All voters will be required to wear face coverings and to physically distance at least 6 feet apart.
   • To allow for plenty of room for physical distancing, the line will form outside the Huntsman Center. It may look longer than it actually is due to the distancing measures.

3. You’ll need to bring a few items with you

1. • You will need to show ID to vote, either one photo ID or two non-photo IDs.
   • Don’t forget a face covering/mask that covers both your mouth and nose.
   • Because the line is outside, be prepared for inclement weather (throw in a jacket and/or umbrella, and maybe a snack or water bottle, too).
   • If you received a mail ballot but prefer to vote in person, please bring your mail ballot to the polling place to “surrender” it when you vote. While this is not required, it helps your local elections officials process ballots more efficiently.

4. You can register to vote on Election Day

1. • If you have not yet registered to vote, you still can in person! You have until 8 p.m. the day of the election. Not sure if you’re registered? Check here.
   • You will be asked to provide a current and valid photo ID as well as proof of residency. A full list of acceptable documents can be found here.

5. You can drop off your mail-in ballot

1. • All active registered voters in Utah are mailed a ballot for the general election. Ballots were mailed in Utah beginning Oct. 13.
   • You can return your ballot by mail, or find a dropbox here. Ballots must be postmarked by Monday, Nov. 2, 2020.
   • You may also return your ballot in person on Election Day by 8 p.m. You can find ballot tracking information here.

6. You can ride UTA for free on Nov. 3

1. • All of UTA’s services in the valley will be free on Election Day, including the line that passes the Huntsman Center voting location.
   • Check here for a list of polling places and the UTA routes that service those locations.

7. Your professors and supervisors should offer flexibility on Election Day

1. • The U strongly encourages its students, faculty, staff and community to vote and is asking faculty, instructors, coaches and supervisors to be flexible and supportive of students who want to engage in political activities on Nov. 3.
   • For example, faculty have been asked to not assign due dates or schedule quizzes/tests on Nov. 3 and 4, and student-athletes will not practice or compete on Election Day.
