PROUD OF MARRIOTT LIBRARY
Did you know the Marriott Library has given away thousands of books at Employee Appreciation Day starting in 2004, at the very first event? Through “Hooked on Books” employees are able to pick up a free book, thanks to the generosity of those who donate books for this event and for the staff who make it possible.
In addition to giving back to U staff, the library provides programming for students in K-12 schools with the Book Arts Treasure Chest. Using this cross-curricular learning tool, teachers present a History of the Book lesson using rare books and facsimiles, and then help students make their own books right in the classroom. The Book Arts Program also provides free educators’ workshops and a variety of book arts workshops that are open to the community. In fact, there is a free drop-in session on paper decoration that is open to the community on August 19. Free and no registration necessary — just drop by. Learn more HERE.
Employee Appreciation Day
The university is ramping up preparations for Employee Appreciation Day 2017. This year’s Employee Appreciation Day celebration is Thursday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium. All U employees, including student employees, are invited so, SAVE THE DATE.
Call for volunteers
Employee Appreciation Day couldn’t happen without the help of generous U employees who volunteer one or two hours of their time during Employee Appreciation Day. All volunteers receive a T-shirt and a pair of athletic tickets. Volunteers are still needed for this year.
To volunteer, please fill out this form, where you’ll be able to choose the time of day that works best for you and the type of work you’d prefer. A committee member will respond to confirm your assignment.
