Low-Cost Health Care Locations to Remember

RedMed Employee Health Clinic is located on the ground floor of the Union and is available to university employees at no cost. RedMed should be your first stop if you experience a work-related injury or illness (unless the injury is life- or limb-threatening). You can also schedule an appointment or visit RedMed for other common urgent care concerns including cough, cold, cuts, burns, falls and more. Point of care testing includes a rapid strep, analysis for UTIs, urine pregnancy testing and blood glucose checks for high/low blood sugar. RedMed providers can also perform throat, wound and urine cultures and other similar screenings. Virtual Visits are available at no cost for employees enrolled in the University’s Advantage and Comprehensive Health Care Plan options and their enrolled family members. You can have a Virtual Visit with a University of Utah Health provider from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., seven days a week. Receive care from home, office, or wherever you are. The university’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available for all university employees enrolled in the Employee Health Care Plan, their enrolled dependents, and other family members residing in the employee’s household. Services are available through the EAP at no cost to employees. Contact the EAP at 801-587-9319 or 1-800-926-9619. The UNI mobile outreach team to respond in the event of a crisis. The UNI crisis line is 801-587-3000. Children and teens should download the SafeUT app as a resource for real-time crisis intervention for youth.

The EAP is offering a no-cost workshop called “Powerful Brain, Healthy Body.” Participants will gain access to the most current knowledge in the fields of brain science, psychology, nutrition and exercise to help participants create lifelong habits for a healthy life. University Health Urgent Care Centers are located in several clinics along the Wasatch Front.  See their website for information and locations. If you are enrolled in the University’s Advantage Health Care Plan option, you can visit a University Health Urgent Care Center for a $5 copay.

Have you completed the WellU requirements?

If you have not yet had your annual physical and dental cleaning and exam, now is the time to schedule your appointment.  WellU requirements must be completed before July 1, 2019, to receive the wellness discount next plan year.  For information on WellU requirements, see the flyer here.

It can take six to eight weeks from the date of service for regular processing and reporting of WellU completions.  All completions must be reported by Regence or the community partner. Timely completions reported after July 1, 2019, may result in a delay in receiving the discount (the discount will be applied when the timely completion is reported), no retro discounts will be provided.  Employees are encouraged to complete the WellU requirements as early as possible to avoid any delays in the application of the discount.
