The University of Utah is planning several events and programs in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day on Oct. 12 and Native American Heritage Month in November.

Indigenous Peoples Day, Oct. 12

  • 12-1:30 p.m.
  • In mainstream media and art, Indigenous peoples are often misrepresented due to lack of historical context and research. On Indigenous Peoples Day, Student Development and Inclusion will host a virtual panel where Indigenous artists and educators will share how they are challenging these stereotypes and changing the narrative by creating new spaces to represent themselves, take action and raise awareness about contemporary Native communities and issues.
