In June 2020, University of Utah senior leaders outlined their goal of an anti-racist campus. Part of that vision included the launch of One U Thriving—a synergistic approach in developing methods to achieve inclusion and equity throughout the entire U system.
Throughout the past year, departments and colleges across campus responded to Equity Diversity and Inclusion’s (EDI) call to action by developing programs, conducting audits of policies and putting in the work to learn and grow as part of a commitment to eradicate anti-Black racism. Now, the EDI team invites everyone in the U community to join them for an open house which will serve as the kickoff for future EDI Quarterly Partner Meetings.
“The goal of these quarterly meetings is to draw connections between the unit and divisional strategies,” said Mary Ann Villarreal, vice president for EDI. “In this initial meeting, EDI will share our vision and direction, and moving forward, we will create space where individuals and teams can share successes and challenges—a place where we can have open dialogue and support one another’s efforts in the shared goals of becoming an anti-racist campus.”
Register here for the EDI open house on April 6, 2021, 9-10:30 a.m. MDT.
