As part of UtahPresents’ mission to engage local artists and bring compelling art to Kingsbury Hall, local dance company LAJAMARTIN has been engaged for an evening of vigorous dance theatre on Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. It is working with Doglatin Media to stream this performance right to audience homes. The evening features a premiere by School of Dance alumna Laja Field and Martin Durov, with proceeds supporting LAJAMARTIN’s scholarships for artists of color and virtual film equipment for UtahPresents. Following the performance, Field and Durov will discuss their creative process with UtahPresents Executive Director Brooke Horejsi.
This event is the first performance of its kind for UtahPresents, and as the arts landscape shifts to adjust to COVID-19, will become an important part of how it reaches audiences with performances and arts experiences. Everyone benefits from a thriving arts ecosystem, and UtahPresents is committed to paying artists, no matter how it has to adapt. This new visual and audio equipment will allow them to better deliver virtual performances to audiences from across Utah, and support the general public, partner organizations and K-12 schools.
Whatever waits on the other side of this challenging time, artists will be exploring complex issues, imagining different perspectives and sharing joy with all UtahPresents audiences.
