U Alumni stands firmly with those speaking out against racism. We affirm the “commitment to creating a compassionate, equitable, and just society for all,” as stated by President Ruth Watkins and the senior leadership at the U. We have been inspired by the peaceful demonstrations by our students and medical professionals at the U. There is no place for racism, hatred, or intolerance in our nation, state, or campus community.
We recognize that this is a particularly difficult time for many, but we are a community of learners and so we encourage you all to look at resources the U is sharing related to racism, bias, and oppression. As the Office of Alumni Relations, we will continue to serve all alumni during these difficult times and provide meaningful connections for you. This is not a problem that can be solved in one day, one month, or even one year, but each of us has the ability to make small changes in our lives today and every day.
