Getting involved on campus has never been easier because of two new initiatives from Student Leadership & Involvement: the Campus Connect platform and the Involvement Ambassadors. With more than 550 student organizations the opportunities are endless to meet new people, develop leadership skills, play a sport, serve the community, engage in your passion and become a leader.
“Getting Involved, especially in a student organization, is how U students develop collaboration necessary for employment,” said Jessica Allred, senior graphic design major. “As a transfer student, I felt more connected to campus once I got involved. Involvement doesn’t have to be directly related to what you’re studying either. I study graphic design but participate in a Women’s Rugby Club. And my job on-campus opened more involvement doors for me and led me to other student organizations and the possibility of starting my own.”

As part of Campus Connect, U Event Pass is a unique QR code in each person’s “User Drawer.” Students are encouraged to save their code in either Apple Wallet or Google Pay Wallet for easy access and scanning at events. This powerful tool allows students to begin to build their involvement record, like a portfolio of learning outside the classroom. These experienced student leaders are responsible for promoting campus involvement through one-on-one consultations and group presentations. They help students develop a deep connection with the U and find their “home.”
Consultations with Involvement Ambassadors make the process of getting involved approachable by narrowing the vast field of options down to just a few organizations and activities that align with the student’s major, goals and interests and hobbies. Students interested in getting involved should get started now by scheduling an involvement consultation.
Faculty, staff and student advisors can also schedule an involvement presentation. These presentations are typically around 20 minutes in length and can be delivered in a variety of settings like classrooms, first- or second-year student programs, student organization meetings and more. The Involvement Ambassadors are happy to add specialized areas of involvement into any of the scheduled presentations as well.
