Benefiting U

As you may know, this year the University of Utah is participating in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Great Colleges to Work For program, a study designed to recognize institutions that have built great workplaces. Part of the program involves a confidential employee survey distributed to a sample of each institution’s full-time faculty, administrators, exempt and non-exempt staff. If you have been selected as part of the University of Utah’s employee sample, you should have received invitations to take the survey from ModernThink, LLC, a research and consulting firm focusing on workplace excellence, and will receive another reminder by this morning, Monday, April 13, if you have not already completed the survey. The survey measures the strength of organizational competencies and relationships that most directly impact and influence an institution’s culture. Your participation and honest feedback are critical to the assessment process. You will be representing not only yourself, but also your colleagues.

Thank you, in advance, for your participation. If you have already completed the survey, we also sincerely thank you.  Please contact Chris Bone, director of employee relations, or visit, if you have any questions.

The Benefits Department will mail annual open enrollment materials the end of April.

To ensure your open enrollment packet is sent to the correct address, please check your personal contact information in the Campus Information System and make appropriate updates by Friday, April 17.

To access CIS, go to the University of Utah home page at and click on the “CIS” icon. Enter your employee identification number (replacing the first 0 with a lower case letter “u”) and password. If you forgot your password, click on the “Forgot your password?” link or contact the Campus Help Desk at 801-581-4000. Once you have logged in, click on the “Employee” tab, then click on the “Personal Bio/Demo Information” link in the Employee Self Service Apps section. If your listed home address is incorrect, click on the “Change home address” button and then click on the “Edit” button. Change your address and click “Save.”
